ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — The U.S. Naval Academy in Maryland was placed on lockdown Thursday, one building was cleared and one person was injured following a report of a threat against the military academy, officials said.
The person injured was airlifted to a hospital and was in stable condition, Lt. Naweed Lemar, the spokesperson for the base that hosts the academy, said in a statement.
He said the lockdown had been lifted by early Friday morning, and the academy in Annapolis was "all clear."
Lemar said security personnel from Naval Support Activity Annapolis and local law enforcement responded to reports of suspicious activity. Further details about the threat and injuries were not available at this time.
Lemar had previously said the academy was on lockdown "out of an abundance of caution."
Police were seen near Bancroft Hall, which houses more than 1,600 students and houses naval cadets. According to the school's website, Bancroft Hall is considered the largest university dormitory in the world.
